Thanks to our partnership with Alvéole, two grade 5 classes from Jeunes-du-Monde elementary school, located in the Maizerets district, had the chance to participate in a beeswax candle making workshop on November 21.
In the manner of the wax artisans of the time, the students dipped strings repeatedly into the hot wax while learning about the history of this century-old know-how. The little ones also took the opportunity to ask our beekeeper about bees and their way of life.
Since 2020, the Port of Québec has had beehives on its site in Beauport Bay. In addition to promoting the biodiversity of the site, this space provides a safe habitat for these small pollinators.
Thank you to the Jeunes-du-Monde school who welcomed us with enthusiasm as well as to our beekeeper Mathilde for this great activity that made many young people happy!
